An experimental method is developed to examine the near tip deformation at the mesoscopic scale level. The differential interference contrast (DIC) method is used by application of the Nomarski prism in polarized microscope for measuring the out of surface deformation. The method is very sensitive to small height changes detected by different interference color. Discussed are results for the crack tip deformation field.  相似文献

The molecular orientation and strain‐induced crystallization of synthetic rubbers—polyisoprene rubber, polybutadiene rubber, and butyl rubber [poly(isobutylene isoprene)]—during uniaxial deformation were studied with in situ synchrotron wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. The high intensity of the synchrotron X‐rays and the new data analysis method made it possible to estimate the mass fractions of the strain‐induced crystals and amorphous chain segments in both the oriented and unoriented states. Contrary to the conventional concept, the majority of the molecules (50–75%) remained in an unoriented amorphous state at high strains. Each synthetic rubber showed a different behavior of strain‐induced crystallization and molecular orientation during extension and retraction. Our results confirmed the occurence of strain‐induced networks in the synthetic rubbers due to the inhomogeneity of the crosslink distribution. The strain‐induced networks containing microfibrillar crystals and oriented amorphous tie chains were responsible for the ultimate mechanical properties. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polypropylene (PP) was modified with elastomer or CaCO3 particles of two different sizes (1 μm and 50 nm) in various volume fractions. The dispersion morphology and mechanical properties of the two systems were investigated as functions of the particle size and volume fraction of the modifier. The brittle‐to‐tough transition occurred when the matrix ligament thickness was less than the critical ligament thickness, which was about 0.1 μm for the PP used here, being independent of the type of modifier. At the same matrix ligament thickness, the improvement of the toughness was obviously higher with the elastomer rather than with CaCO3, but adding CaCO3 increased the modulus of PP. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The local and the terminal velocities, the size and the degree of bubbles’ shape deformations were determined as a function of distance from the position of the bubble formation (capillary orifice) in solutions of n-octyltrimethylammonium bromide, n-octyldimethylphosphine oxide, n-octyl-β-D-glucopyranoside and n-octanoic acid.

These surface-active compounds have different polar groups but an identical hydrocarbon chain (C8) in the molecule. The motion of the bubbles was monitored and recorded using a stroboscopic illumination, a CCD camera, and a JVC professional video. The recorded bubble images were analyzed by the image analysis software. The bubbles accelerated rapidly and their shape was deformed immediately after detachment from the capillary. The extent of the bubbles’ shape deformation (ratio of horizontal and vertical diameters) was 1.5 in distilled water and dropped rapidly down to a level of ca. 1.05–1.03 with increasing surfactant concentration. After the acceleration period the bubbles either attained a constant value of the terminal velocity (distilled water and high concentrations of the solutions), or a maximum in the velocity profiles was observed (low concentrations). The values of the terminal velocity diminished drastically with increasing concentration, from the value of 35 cm/s in water down to about 15 cm/s, while the bubble diameter decreased by ca. 10% only. The surfactant adsorption at the surface of the bubbles was evaluated and the minimum adsorption coverages required to immobilize the bubbles’ surface were determined. It was found that this minimum adsorption coverage was ca. 4% for n-octyldimethylphosphine oxide, n-octyl-β-D-glucopyranoside, n-octanoic acid and 25% for n-octyltrimethylammonium bromide. The difference in the adsorption coverage together with the surfactants’ surface activities indicate that it is mainly the adsorption kinetics of the surfactants that governs the fluidity of interfaces of the rising bubbles.  相似文献

 从麦克斯韦方程出发,采用时域有限差分法(FDTD)和离散傅里叶变换(DFFT)相结合的方法,通过数值计算得出了六腔开放式谐振腔中前四个谐振频率和场分布,计算出的谐振频率与实验测量结果基本相同。比较了开放腔和封闭腔谐振频率,验证了TEM波吸收边界条件,并在实际编程计算中得以应用。计算结果为六腔渡越管振荡器的机理研究提供了依据。  相似文献

 采用Algor软件包并利用有限元法对37单元能动反射镜低频误差补偿能力进行了分析计算,确定了镜面厚度8mm,驱动器间距46mm,极头直径12mm等能动反射镜制造的关键参数。通过计算机仿真分析证明,基于这些参数所设计的能动反射镜可以对低频误差进行有效校正,校正精度的均方根值小于等于λ/8,从而可以为能动反射镜的制造提供理论依据。  相似文献

In this work, the effect of flexibility on the trajectory of a planar two-link manipulator is studied using integrated computer-aided design/analysis (CAD/CAE) procedures. The solid models and finite element models of the parts of the manipulator are created by using the CAD/CAE software I-DEAS. The assembly is defined, and knowing the payload and the end point trajectory, the velocities and accelerations of the parts, joint forces and driving torques are calculated using the rigid body dynamics. All the time dependent nodal forces acting on the parts including distributed gravity and inertia forces are created in files with the I-DEAS program file format. The finite element vibration analysis of the parts is performed by I-DEAS. The end point vibrations and the deviations from the rigid-body trajectory are analyzed for different types of end point acceleration curves. A circular trajectory is considered as an example. It is observed that the precision of the manipulator can be increased by testing different end point acceleration curves without changing the trajectory and the duration of the end point work. The procedure explained in this work can be used for this purpose successfully.  相似文献

The analysis of mechanical structures using the Finite Element Method in the framework of large elastoplastic strain, needs frequent remeshing of the deformed domain during computation. Indeed, the remeshing is due to the large geometrical distortion of finite elements and the adaptation to the physical behavior of the solution. This paper gives the necessary steps to remesh a mechanical structure during large elastoplastic deformations with damage. An important part of this process is constituted by geometrical and physical error estimates. The proposed method is integrated in a computational environment using the ABAQUS/Explicit solver and the BL2D-V2 adaptive mesher. To cite this article: H. Borouchaki et al., C. R. Integration of the subsurface flow equation by finite elements (FE) in space and finite differences (FD) in time requires the repeated solution to sparse symmetric positive definite systems of linear equations. Iterative techniques based on preconditioned conjugate gradients (PCG) are one of the most attractive tool to solve the problem on sequential computers. A present challenge is to make PCG attractive in a parallel computing environment as well. To this aim a key factor is the development of an efficient parallel preconditioner. FSAI (factorized sparse approximate inverse) and enlarged FSAI relying on the approximate inverse of the coefficient matrix appears to be a most promising parallel preconditioner. In the present paper PCG using FSAI, diagonal and pARMS (parallel algebraic recursive multilevel solvers) preconditioners is implemented on the IBM SP4/512 and CLX/768 supercomputers with up to 32 processors to solve underground flow problems of a large size. The results show that FSAI may allow for a parallel relative efficiency larger than 50% on the largest problems with p=32 processors. Moreover, FSAI turns out to be significantly less expensive and more robust than pARMS. Finally, it is shown that for p in the upper range may be much improved if PCG–FSAI is implemented on CLX.  相似文献
